Strike affects normal life in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT, Jan 13: Normal life has been crippled in Jajarkot district, with the indefinite banda called by various students unions stretching to the fourth straight day on Friday.



Transportation, educational institutions and marketplaces have remained closed in Khalanga bazaar, the district headquarters and other parts of the district due to the strike. [break]



The strike has halted delivery of essential commodities and restricted the mobility of people from and to the district.



The students organizations have enforced the strike to press for their demands that also operation of direct bus services from Jajarkot to Nepalgunj and Surkhet.



They have also demanded strict implementation of the provision for concessions to the students on fares in public vehicles.



A dozen civil society organizations including the district chapters of Bar Association and Federation of Nepali Journalists have expressed their solidarity to the banda.



So far, the local administration and concerned stakeholders have not taken any initiative to end the strike
