KATHMANDU, July 12: CPN (Maoist Center), which decided to withdraw its support to the current government earlier today, has asked Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to “step down and clear the way” for the formation of a new government.
Organizing a Press Conference at the party’s Parliamentary Party Office at Singha Durbar, the party’s leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara appealed to PM Oli to resign.
Mahara also revealed that his party has already reached an agreement with the Nepali Congress to form the next government under the leadership of CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
“As per the agreement, our party will lead the government first. Then the leadership of the government will be transferred to Nepali Congress after some time,” said Mahara.
When asked whether CPN (Maoist Center) and Nepali Congress have the required majority in Parliament to form the new government, Mahara said "we have more than the required majority." However, he did not reveal the details about it.
