SPORTS BRIEFS: Team Reebok win title

KATHMANDU, April 24: Team Reebok clinched the title of the Marwadi Premier League T20 Spice Parshuram Trophy Cricket Tournament on Saturday.



Reebok defeated Young Warriors by six wickets in the final match at the TU Cricket Ground. [break]



Young Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. Warriors put up 112 runs in limited 20 overs losing nine wickets. Amol Sharma (27 runs), Sumit Sharma (23 runs) and Robin Sharma (13 runs) were the highest run contributors. Rohit Sharma took three wickets for Team Reebok.



Chasing the modest total, Team Reebok met the target in 18 overs losing four wickets. Man-of-the-match Harsh Kandoi topscored with 45 runs while Hitesh Dalmiya added 28 runs and Rahul Bansal struck 20 runs.



Ashu Kandoi of Black Stars received the award for best batsman while Sushil Nahata of Naxal Challengers was adjudged best bowler of the tournament. Meanwhile, Rahul Bansal of Team Reebok won the award for player of the series.





Machhapuchhre, Kumari enter final



KATHMANDU, April 24: Machhapuchhre and Kumari Bank entered into the final of the Sixth Inter Bank Men´s Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.



The defending champions Machhapuchhre defeated Nepal Rastra Bank (Red) 25-14, 25-11, 25-19 in the first semifinal while Kumari thrashed Agricultural Development Bank 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 in another semifinal.



The title clash will take place on Monday.





Kite, Unique set up title clash



KATHMANDU, April 24: Hosts Kite set up final clash against Unique in the First Open Basketball Tournament for the SLC appeared students.



Kite defeated Innovative 51-21 in the first semifinal. Ashim Shrestha scored six points for Kite.



Meanwhile, Unique beat Kantipur 71-40 in another semifinal. Bikash Gurung scored 15 points for the winning side.



The final match will be played on Sunday.





BSAM, EPS win matches



KATHMANDU, April 24: Hosts Birendra Sainik School (BSAM) and EPS won their respective matches on Saturday during the Third Chief of the Army Staff Inter School Running Cricket Tournament being held at the BSAM Cricket Ground, Bhaktapur.



BSAM defeated Green Land Children Academy by 35 runs. Batting first, BSAM put up 149 runs in limited 20 overs losing four wickets and restricted Green Land to 114/4 in 20 overs.



Likewise, EPS thrashed Bhanu Bhakta Memorial School by five wickets. Bhanu Bhakta put up 85 runs in limited 20 overs losing eight wickets. In reply, EPS met the target in 16 overs losing five wickets.
