Chakratirtha Football from Saturday
KATHMANDU, Feb 23: The First Valley-wide Chakratirtha Cup 7-A-Side Open Football Tournament will kick off at Chobhar Ganeshthan, Kirtipur, from Saturday.
The tournament is being organized by the Unemployed Youth Group of Chobhar and sponsored by the Chakratirtha Group Private Limited.
The matches will be played in league-cum-knockout style according to the FIFA rules. The top four teams will bag a purse of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
A press release issued by the organizers on Tuesday stated that some amount of income generated from the tournament will be donated for social causes.
Trinity, Golden Gate in Whitehouse Cup quarterfinals
KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Trinity, Golden Gate, Golfutar, Kaski, Triton and Gyanodaya advanced into the quarterfinals of the Whitehouse Cup U-19 National Basketball Tournament on Tuesday winning their respective matches held at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium.
Trinity defeated National 49-35. Trinity won the first and last quarters 15-5, 18-14 and play 10-10, 6-6 draws in the second and fourth in the quarterfinal match. Santosh Thapa netted the highest 13 points for Trinity.
Likewise, Golden Gate saw off Whitehouse 48-37.Bikram Dangol topscored with 12 points for the winning side. In aonther match, Mohan Limbu scored 18 points for Golfutar as they registered a 32-27 win over Xavier International.
