New Diamond defeated Nepal Police 18-25, 25-11, 25-16, 16-25, 25-17 in a competitive five-set final. [break]
The winners bagged a purse of Rs 60,000 while the runners-up received Rs 40,000. Altogether six teams had participated in the two-day event.
The tournament was organized by All Nepal Women´s Association of the CPN-UML on the occasion of the 100th International Women´s Day. The organizers also held a 3-km race and a 3-km walkathon on the occasion.
Inter-campus volleyball from Tuesday
KATHMANDU, Mar 8: Inter-campus National Volleyball Tournament will kick off on Tuesday at the Tribhuvan University Central Campus, Kirtipur.
Altogether 29 campuses from across the country are participating in the event that will continue till Sunday. The participants of the 11th South Asian Games are not eligible to compete in the event.
The tournament is being organized by the Revolutionary Free Students´ Union Council in commemoration of late Benoj Adhikari, former vice-president of the All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union (Revolutionary).
The top three teams will win cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
