Winning the toss, the red team scored 138 runs losing six wickets in allocated 20 overs. Anil Mandal scored 47 runs off 50 balls while Mahesh Chhetri scored 27 runs.[break]
Avinash Karn grabbed two wickets for the blue team in his two-over spell. Sanjam Regmi also grabbed two wickets while Mehboob Alam and Basanta Regmi took a wicket each.
In chasing the total of 139 runs, the blue team was restricted for just 97 runs off 17.2 overs. Krishna Karki, Shakri Gauchan, Bhuwan Karki, Prithu Baskota and Puspa Thapa grabbed two wickets each for the red team. Paras Khadka was the highest scorer for the red team with 21 runs.

KATHMANDU: Birgunj Youth Academy and Star Club settled for a goalless draw on Friday in the ongoing Martyr´s Memorial Red Bull B Division League in the match played at the Police Training Centre. After the draw, Birgunj has five points from three games while Star club has four points from three games. On Sunday, Tusal Youth Club will face Sano Gaucharan Youth Club while Kumari Youth Club will face Boys Sports Club.
Tamrakar, Chakrabahil in quarters
KATHMANDU: Defending Champions Shrujan Tamrakar and Shrawan Chakrabahil´s pair defeated Raja Babu Maharjan and Deepak Maharjan 21-16, 21-10 on Friday to enter the quarterfinal of the ongoing Yala Cup Badminton Tournament.
Rabin Maharjan and Hari Maharjan´s pair overcame Bipin Shakya and Sunil Shakya´s pair 21-16, 22-20 for the quarterfinal spot. In the other pre-quarterfinal matches, Devendra Bharati and Ram Maharjan, Sanjay Maharjan and Sanu Babu Maharjan, Lalit Maharjan and Bijay Maharjan, Kishor Byanjankar and Birendra Shrestha, Suraj Maharjan and Purna Maharjan and the pair of Birendra Shrestha and Raju Bajracharya registered a win and fixed the quarterfinal spot.
HIMS sets up title calash with Daffodil
KATHMANDU: HIMS set up the title clash with Daffodil in the Kodomo Baba Inter-school Basketball Tournament after winning their respective matches in the boys´ category on Friday.
HIMS defeated LRI 57-47 in the first semifinal held at the court of Baba Boarding School, Chabahil.
HIMS took the first quarter 14-7 and second 16-13 to take a 10-point lead by half time. LRI cut the lead to five points by the end of the third quarter with a 6-11 margin in its favor. HIMS bounced back in the final quarter and scored 21-16 for the victory. Karma Gurung scored 17 points for the winning team.
In another semifinal, Daffodil thrashed Valley Public 52-33 as Sange Sherpa scored 22 points. Daffodil took the first quarter 11-8 and lost the second 5-10 as the score was 16-18 by half time. Valley Public could not hold its two-point lead as Daffodil bounced back into the game and took the remaining quarters 13-9, 23-6.
In the girls´ section, Daffodil and Mahendra Bhawan advanced into the final. Daffodil defeated The Chandbagh School 37-23 and Mahendra Bhawan routed Valley Public 52-10.
In the first semifinal, Pasang´s 11 points guided Daffodil into the final. Daffodil won the first two quarter 9-2, 8-4. The Chandbagh fought back in the third quarter for a 7-7 draw but Daffodil emerged victorious after winning the last quarter 13-10.
In another semifinal, Shanti Shrestha´s 20 points helped Mahendra Bhawan thrash Valley Public. Mahendra dominated all the quarters of the game, scoring 14-0, 22-3, 6-5, 10-2 for the win.
Defending champion Prime into final
KATHMANDU: Defending champion Prime College advanced into the final of both boys´ and girls´ category in the ongoing Ninth Prime Cup Basketball Championship on Friday.
The boys´ team defeated Trinity 55-30 while the girls´ team beat Reliance International Academy 38-23 in their home court.
Prime and Trinity scored 8 points each in the first quarter in the boys´ section. Prime took control of the game and scored 13-7 in the second quarter for a six-point lead. Prime dominated the remaining quarters 19-6, 15-9 to seal the match. Ayush Singh was the highest scorer with 19 points.
Prime will take on National Campus in the final on Saturday after Manish Tamang´s 15 points guided National to a comprehensive 68-29 win over Xavier International in another semifinal. National took all the quarters 19-10, 15-8, 19-5, 15-6 for the victory.
Meanwhile, Luniva Singh´s 14 points guided prime for the victory in the girls´ category. Prime took the first three quarters 12-1, 14-4, 10-9 which was enough for the victory despite losing the fourth quarter 2-9.
Prime will lock horns with Premier College in the final as Premier beat Nakhipot 41-25 in another semifinal of the girls´ category. Mrinalini Shrestha scored 17 points for the winning team. Premier took the first quarter 15-2 and later lost the second 8-10. Premier bounced back in the third quarter 10-3 and lost the fourth 8-10.
Double delight for Teresa
KATHMANDU: Both the teams of Teresa have entered into the quarterfinals of the Fourth Odyssey Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the girls´ 3X3 on Friday. Teresa A beat Galaxy 9-8 and the B team defeated Arunodaya 10-2. In the other matches of the girls´ category, Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute (SVI) and Prithvi also qualified for the quarterfinals.
SVI edged past the host Odyssey 1-0 and Prithvi overcame Bal Mandir 12-9. In the junior boys´ category, AIA overpowered Greenland 23-11, Valley Public thrashed Stainer 43-9, and Deneb registered 15-13 victory over Celebration. In other matches of the same category, Maha Manjushree and Galaxy won their respective matches and qualified for the quarterfinals.
