G Five Mobile, Norling Restaurant, The Himalayan Times (THT) and Chaudhary Group made it to the knockout stage as their respective group winners while Image Channel, Himalayan Bank, Bank of Asia and Nepal Industrial and Commercial Bank (NIC) finished as the runners-up. [break]
In group A matches played at Jawalakhel Youth Club Ground on Tuesday, G Five defeated Surya Nepal 2-0 while Manakamana Development Bank beat Image Channel 1-0. In Group B, Himalayan Bank overpowered International Leasing and Finance Company 3-0 while Norling overcame Civil Bank 2-1.
In Group C, Bank of Asia and International Money Express (IME) were tied 1-1. Similarly, THT and Bank of Asia played a goalless draw. Chaudhary Group ousted NIC Bank 3-1 but both the teams qualified for the quarterfinals.
Citizens meet Yeti in final
KATHMANDU: Citizens Bank will meet Yeti Airlines in the final of the Corporate Clash T-20 Cricket Tournament on Wednesday after defeating Nepal SBI Bank by four wickets. Yeti, who had already secured the final berth as group leaders, continued their winning streak Tuesday with a 40 run victory over Nepal Telecom in their last league match. Yeti scored 143 runs losing just four wickets as Sandeep Shrestha scored not out 75 runs off 58 balls. Nepal Telecom were restricted at just 103 runs off 20 overs losing eight wickets.
Dhirendra Lal Shrestha was the highest scorer for the losing team with 34 runs. Meanwhile, an all round performance of Amit Khanal on Tuesday helped Citizens Bank pack up SBI out of the tournament. Khanal took three wickets and scored unbeaten 20 runs. SBI won the toss and scored 100 runs in 19.5 overs losing all wickets. Monish Kumar Shrestha was the highest scorer with 28 runs in the inning. Citizen bank reached the target in just 18.4 overs losing six wickets. Sanjeev Shrestha scored 40 runs off 19 balls while Sandeep Upadhyay of SBI took three wickets.
