SPORTS BRIEFS: Adhikari wins Caddie

KATHMANDU, June 7: Ramesh Adhikari won the title of the Annual Caddie Competition Golf Tournament 2010 on Monday.



Adhikari won Rs 12,000 in the tournament, which was played on 36 holes stroke play scratch handicap format at the Royal Nepal Golf Course. Adhikari played total 140 strokes to win the tournament. [break]



Likewise, Bikash Adhikari (152 strokes) stood second and bagged Rs 8,000. Kishan Kaliraj stood third and received Rs 6,000.





TIA, Daffodil enter semis



KATHMANDU, June 7: Trungram International Academy (TIA) and Daffodil School entered the semifinals of the senior girls´ category in the First Bagmati Inter-School Basketball Tournament.



TIA defeated South Point 24-5 in a one-sided match, where Pratima Malla alone scored 22 points for TIA. Daffodil thrashed Excelsior Academy 22-13 as Pasang Sherpa scored 17 points for the winners.



Likewise, Valley Public defeated Mahendra Bhawan 14-6 and Prithvi beat Reliance International Academy 28-24 to enter the semis.



Meanwhile, Greenland, Golden Peak, Unique and Daffodil booked their semifinal berths in the senior boys´ category.



Greenland beat Baba Boarding School 35-33 while Golden Peak defeated Manjugoksa 45-36. Unique edged past Gyan Niketan 50-30 and Daffodil thrashed HIMS 52-30 to enter the last four.





Inter-region volleyball and athletics



KATHMANDU, June 7: School Level Inter-region Nationwide Volleyball and Athletics Tournament will kick off on Wednesday.



National Sports Council is organizing the 3-day tournament with approval from Ministry of Youth and Sports.



All the five regions will compete to win volleyball titles in boys´ and girls´ categories. Likewise, 90 young athletes from all five regions will take part in different athletics events.
