Brijeshwori dominate taekwondo
KATHMANDU, June 17: Brijeshwori Gyan Mandir dominated the Second Youth Open and Senior Taekwondo Championship on the second day on Thursday winning four gold medals.
In 40-42 kg women´s junior, Laxmi Karki of Brijeshwori defeated Amrana Tamrakar of Kathmandu Dojo and in 42-44 kg junior Devika Tamang of Brijeshwori defeated Shakti Kumari Gurung of The Challenger to win a gold each.
Similarly, in 53-57 kg senior Gyani Chunara of Brijeshwori ousted Indu Mahato and in 57-62 kg senior Pratigya Bhandari of Brijeshwori beat Sanjita Basyal to bag gold apiece.
Under men´s senior 63-68 kg, Lok Bahadur Neupane of National Taekwondo Training Center won gold defeating Bikram Gurung of Chitwan and in 68-72 kg Durga Bahadur Thapa of National Taekwondo Training Center beat Sanjay Bhakta Thapa of Chitwan in the final.
HIMS, Galaxy in final
KATHMANDU, June 17: HIMS and Galaxy Public School advanced into the final of the Fourth HIMS Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Thursday.
In the semifinal, HIMS defeated Wilson Academy 53 -45. Dawa Jangbu contributed 15 points for HIMS.
Riding on 20 points of Dharmendra, Galaxy edged past Valley Public 49-42.
