Special Court acquits ex-PADT officials

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday lost a corruption case filed at the Special Court demanding Rs 460.5 million as compensation.

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday lost a corruption case filed at the Special Court demanding Rs 465.6 million as compensation.



The anti-graft body had filed a case against the ex-officials of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) , former Local Development Officers (LDOs) of Kathmandu and contractors for corruption in operating a sand quarry illegally.



The court fined two contractors, while acquitted others saying that their involvement was not established.



The court acquitted the then PADT member secretaries Nirmal Kuikel and Sushil Nahata, the then LDOs of Kathmandu Mahendralal Shrestha, Gopal Prasad Parajuli and Premraj Joshi, PADT deputy-director Raj Kumar Regmi and PADT project monitoring and administration official Bhishma Kumar Malla.
