KATHMANDU, June 11: Speaker of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR), Agni Prasad Sapkota is holding an all-party meeting today.
Top leaders of all political parties, which are represented in the federal parliament, and former prime ministers are attending the discussion at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu.
Prime Minister KP Oli, who is also the chairman of the ruling CPN-UML, however, has skipped the meeting. Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal joined the meeting virtually.
The Speaker's consultation with the leaders of the political parties comes at a time when the Supreme Court (SC)’s Constitutional Bench is conducting hearings on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the HoR by Prime Minister KP Oli. The lower house of parliament was dissolved on May 22 for a second time by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the recommendation of the Oli-led Cabinet.
