Soybean oil accounts for nearly half of Nepal’s Rs 24 billion exports in Shrawan

Carpet exports stood second, valued at Rs 820.5 million. Other major exports included refined palm oil, jute goods, and cardamom, though none came close to soybean oil’s dominant share.

Kathmandu, Aug 23 : Soybean oil remained Nepal’s leading export item in the first month of the current Fiscal Year (FY), contributing almost half of the country’s total exports.



According to the Department of Customs, Nepal exported goods worth Rs 23.93 billion in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August). Of this, soybean oil alone accounted for Rs 10.69 billion, or about 45 percent of the total. The country shipped 57.8 million kilograms of the product during the month.
