KATHMANDU, July 14: Sompal Kami became third Nepali player to be endorsed by Indian cricket equipment company, Red Rock (RR), after agreeing to a two-year deal on Saturday.
Nepal all-rounder Kami will receive a contract fee and cash incentives which add up to Rs 300, 000 to Rs 500,000. Teammate Karan KC and U-19 cricketer Bhim Sarki were endorsed by the same brand previously.
Kami was excited to seal the sponsorship. “I would like to thank Red Rock team for the sponsorship and Manish Sir (Sakhalkar) for initiating the deal which is certain to motivate me to do further better for Nepal and all the other teams I am associated with,” he said.

All-rounder Kami became second Nepali player to feature in a global league last month. He is set to represent the Winnipeg Hawks in second edition of Global T20 Canada starting later this month. He has been a regular member of Nepal’s national team.
He holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery in history of Nepali cricket. He also won the player of the match award in Nepal’s first ever ODI win against the Netherlands last year. Similarly, he picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in series victory against the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
The deal was initiated by Manish Sakhalkar, a former Mumbai based Ranji player who lives in Kathmandu, helping RR team identify the talents and initiate deals for promising players in Nepal.
The owners of Red Rock, Subhash Rajput and Shekhar Kaushik, were happy to sponsor third Nepali player in a span of months. They said they are looking to grow the brand in Nepal in coming days.
“Sompal [Kami] is one of the pillars of Nepali national team. A whole team can be built around players like Sompal and Karan [KC]. We are very positive about Bhim’s [Sarki] career as well given the potential he has. We proudly welcome Sompal in RR family,” said Shekhar Kaushik, co-owner of the company.
Red Rock Sports was established in 2007. The Meerut-based Indian cricket manufacturing company specializes in manufacturing custom made cricket bats for professional cricketers with a history of serving players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, and Robin Uthappa.
Red Rock is planning to open an outlet in Kathmandu in near future.
