The entrepreneurs of Biratnagar, who are seeing the bandas as a respite, have been spending more time with their family members these days.[break]
Avinash Bohara, president of Morang Trade Association, has been spending a significant amount of time with his family. He also visits his friends and spends leisure hours chatting and sharing jokes with them, something unthinkable on normal working days. “I realized that using Facebook is a great way to kill time,” quipped the promoter of Bohara Group, which deals in commodities like rice and paddy.
Tulsi Ram Agarwal, chairman of Bishal Group and a senior industrialist, who works till eight in the evening on normal days, is also spending a quiet life these days. “I´m totally free these days. And I´m spending most of my time at home, reading newspapers, watching television and catching up with friends over phone,” said Agarwal. He, however, does not think doing nothing was the ideal way of spending time
Yadav Pokharel, president of Birat Trade Association, echoed the same feeling and said he too was not comfortable sitting idle at home. “It´s very difficult to spend time when you have nothing to do,” complained the promoter of Narwada Auto, the dealer of Tata vehicles. “These days I do nothing except watching television.” He said he goes to a gymnasium and works out for a couple of hours in the morning to stay fresh throughout the day.
Another person who is getting fed up of doing nothing is Dinesh Golchha, president of Morang Chamber of Commerce and Industries. “Series of bandas definitely give you lots of free time,” he said. “But I´m not in its favor and I have been meeting various people to end the strikes.”
