LALITPUR, Oct 24: Sneha’s Care, an animal shelter located in Karyabinayak of Lalitpur district, observed the Kukur Tihar festival by organizing a special event on the premises of the shelter on Monday in the presence of the people’s representatives, animal rights activists, and staff of the shelter and media persons, among others.
The animal welfare charity which has been celebrating Kukur Tihar by organizing a special program every year ever since its establishment in 2014, marked the special day of the dogs this year as well.

At the program, dogs at the shelter were worshiped by putting garlands of flowers around their necks. The canines were also offered a vermilion tika on their foreheads and delicious foods.
Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiri Babu Maharjan, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, and Founding Chairperson of Sneha’s Care Sneha Shrestha and others participated in the Kukur Tihar puja organized on the occasion.
Sneha's care is one of the largest animal welfare charities in Nepal. With its headquarters in Lalitpur district, Sneha’s Care has initiated different projects for the welfare of street dogs and other animals.
The organization has been continuously campaigning for the introduction of animal welfare laws in Nepal to safeguard animal rights and ensure penalties for animal abuse and cruelty.
