KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Smart Telecom has joined hands with Suaahara II, a USAID-supported program, which will support new mothers for up to 1,000 days ensuring they receive real-time counseling and technical support.
A MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed between Smart and Suaahara II program, implemented by Helen Keller International Nepal. As a telecom partner to the program, Smart provides free SIM cards to selected Suaahara beneficiaries and volunteers.

The company plans to distribute 6,000 SIM cards in two of Suaahara II program districts – Nuwakot and Kapilvastu. The company said it has distributed 3,500 SIM cards to beneficiaries in Nuwakot in the first phase.
The partnership will help the mothers to freely communicate with Suaahara's frontline workers to improve their and their children's nutritional status. Suaahara II program is working to improve the nutritional status of women and children in at least 1.5 million households across forty districts of Nepal.
