DHARAN, Oct 20: Six people have been killed and six others injured when a landslide buried their house at Gadhire, Chaubise Rural Municipality-1 in Dhankuta on Tuesday night.
According to the District Police Office, Dhankuta, six people, including three guests, were killed in the incident. According to DSP Deepak Kumar Rai, the landslide occurred at around 12 PM. The deceased have been identified as Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, 60, his grandson Binod Shrestha, 9, and his granddaughter Nirjala Shrestha, 5.

Similarly, 54-year-old Ganesh Kumari Shrestha (wife of the deceased Bhim Bahadur), son Bhes Bahadur, 31, Chandra Bahadur, 28, Lila Shrestha, 29, Usha Shrestha, 33 and her son Sanjal Shrestha, 11 were injured in the landslide.
“Among the injured, Lila, Usha and Sanjal Shrestha are critically injured,” said DSP Rai. A police team had reached the spot in the night and rescued the injured. Also, a team from a local health office is providing first aid on the incident site. Initiatives are being taken to take the critically injured to the hospital.
Likewise, power supply has been disrupted in the area since last night due to the landslide, according to DSP Rai. The incident site is about 27 kilometers from the headquarters of the rural municipality. A team including village chairperson Khajindra Rai and vice-chairperson Yagya Kumari Ruchal have also visited the site to take stock of the situation.
