Six houses gutted in fire in Kalikot

BIRENDRANAGAR, April 11: Six houses were burned into ashes on Saturday when a fire broke out at Pachal Jharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot district.

BIRENDRANAGAR, April 11: Six houses were burned into ashes on Saturday when a fire broke out at Pachal Jharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot district.


The houses belonging to Durge Sarki, Birmane Sarki, Bhaire Sarki, Ati Sarki, and Amrite Sarki were completely destroyed by the fire, leaving their families homeless as the fire destroyed their houses, said Madhav Shrestha, Senior Superintendent of Police at Karnali Province Police.

Property worth Rs 664,000 including houses, food stuff, utensils and clothing was destroyed in the fire. However, no human casualty is reported.


The local authority has ensured immediate relief assistance- food and shelter for the survivors. They have been provided tarpaulin sheets. The local representatives promised to take initiatives to provide permanent shelter to the survivors under the government's people's housing program.
