Sit-in for peace and constitution

KATHMANDU, June 11: Women activists have again given continuity to their agitation with a view to piling pressure to promulgate a new constitution in the extended timeframe and bring the peace process to a logical end.



Women Pressure Group for Peace and Democracy (WPGPD) had consistently staged sit-in in front of Constituent Assembly (CA) building for 45 days from April 14 to serve the objective of creating ample pressure for peace and constitution.[break]



Organizing a press conference on Friday, the Group made it public that they will stage sit-in in front of the CA building from 10 AM to 5 PM every day effective from June 15.



In order to exert nationwide pressure, the women group is prepared to launch walkathon from all five development regions from coming June 26 and return Kathmandu after getting converged in Chitwan and to organize a massive rally in Kathmandu on third week of August, informed Director of Women Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) Nepal, Dr. Ranu Rajbhandari.
