Simara Gold Cup from Feb 14

SIMARA, Feb 6: Magic Moments Third Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament will be held in Simara, Bara from February 14.



According to the organizer, Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuva Club, the tournament will have the highest cash prize for the winner and the runner-up among tournaments held so far outside the capital. The winner and the runner-up will bag a purse of Rs 300,000 and Rs 150,000 respectively.[break]



Nawa Jana Jagriti Yuva Club and Rolling River Distillery signed a three-year sponsorship deal for the tournament a week ago, said the organizer.



Altogether 12 teams, including five A division teams, will participate in the tournament. National League runner-up Yeti Airlines Himalayan Sherpa Club, Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT), Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC), Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club and Armed Police Force (APF) are the A division teams competing in the event.



Sherpa and Jawalakhel are the winner and runner-up of the last edition respectively. Workers Martyrs Memorial Club (WMMC) had won the tournament in 2066 BS.



Sahara Club of Pokhara, ANFA Academy, WMMC, Munal Club of Jhapa, Birgunj Youth Academy, Lalbandi Football Club and host Nawa Jana Jagriti are the other teams to feature in the tournament.



The tournament is being organized with a view to promote football in the Tarai region as very few national-level tournaments have been organized in the region in recent days, the organizer said.
