Silent period for by-election to begin from midnight

KATHMANDU, April 24: The silent period for the upcoming by-elections, scheduled for April 27, will begin from Wednesday midnight.

KATHMANDU, April 24: The silent period for the upcoming by-elections, scheduled for April 27, will begin from Wednesday midnight.


During the silent period, election campaigning is prohibited as per the election code of conduct, starting 48 hours before the polling day.

The by-election for the House of Representatives in Ilam constituency-2, and for the Provincial Assembly in Bajhang constituency-1(a) will be held this Saturday.


The Election Commission has stated that it has established a special mechanism to monitor activities that violate the code of conduct during the silent period.


According to the Election Commission, it is strictly prohibited for publicity, including through social media during the silent period.
