KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Nepal Shotokan Karate Association is set to organize Nepal National Shotokan Karate Tournament from August 27 to 28 in Kathmandu.
All the matches of the tournament that is being managed by Newton High School will be held at the school's ground in Baluwatar.
Organizing a press meet on Friday, the association informed that 325 players -216 male, 109 female-will take part in the tournament offering 21golds, 21 silvers and 42 bronzes in 21 weight categories.
Speaking at the press meet, the association's Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur KC informed that this tournament is also a qualifier for Nepali shotokan karate players to take part in the upcoming Tri-series Shotokan Karate Championship in India. Altogether 45 players will be selected for the international championship featuring Indian and British karate players.
According to the association, Rs 300 has been fixed as registration fee for the participants to compete in the tournament.
The association also informed that the best player of the tournament and the emerging player of the tournament will also be rewarded. The association will also honor six former karate players and 28 international medalists with black belt and second dan on the same occasion.
