Shooters selected for SAG

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Nepal Shooting Association on Thursday picked 12 players through selection tournament for the 12th South Asian Games to be held in India on February 6-16 next year.

In the event held at the Satdobato Shooting Range, Lalitpur, Pawan Ghimire (569 points) of Dang, Tikaram Shrestha (566 points) of Sunsari and AsimYadav (561 points) of Lalitpur secured top three positions, respectively, in men's 10 m air rifle.Similarly, in the women's category, Sneha Rajyalaxmi Rana (389 points) of Rupandehi, Phulmaya Kyapchha (385 points) and Ashmita Rai (385 points) of Nepal Police Club finished as first, second, and third respectively.

Badruddin Ansari (552 points) of Banke, Kuver KC (548 points) of Tribhuvan Army Club and Suman Tuladhar (539 points) of Kathmandu were selected in the men's 10 m air pistol as first, second and third respectively. However, police team was at its best in women's 10 m air pistol with Sabita Basnet (363 points), Sima Tuladhar (360 points) and Manita Rai (359 points), all from police, secured the top three positions.

The men's event saw competition for 600 points and women's for 400 points.

The association selected six men and women shooters each from four events with top three finishers earning ticket for SAG.
