SPORTS BRIEFS: Shooters selected

KATHMANDU, July 17: Six shooters have been selected in the preliminary round for the 16th Asian Games.



The selected players in the men´s category are Tikaram Shrestha, Chanas Rai and Krishna Chaurasia who had won bronze medal in 10-meter air rifle during the 11th South Asian Games. [break]



Ashmita Rai, Phulmaya Kyapchaki and Durga Sinjali were selected in the women´s category. All three are from Police Club.



All players will be competing using rifles. Training for the selected players will begin Sunday, according to coach Pradeep Khati. Two best players will compete in the Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, China in November.





Inter-school Football



KATHMANDU, July 17: Little Angels´ School defeated Bijay Smarak Higher Secondary School 4-0 in the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Boys´ National Football Tournament being held at the Sano Gaucharan Ground on Saturday.



Likewise, Mahendra Bhrikuti Secondary School eased past Budhanilakantha Higher Secondary School 2-1 and Birendra Sainik thrashed Shangri-La Glory Public School 4-0. Kailash Bodhi Secondary beat Nepal Adarsha Secondary in sudden death.



Meanwhile, National Model Science School, Read Model, Mangaldeep School and Shramik Shanti Higher Secondary School won their respective matches of the tournament at the ANFA Technical Center, Chyasal on Saturday.
