"We are hopeful that the fair will not only help in promotion of Nepali shoes but will habituate people to use Nepali products," a statement issued by the LFGMAN said.
According to organizers, the event will put on display shoes and slippers priced in the range of Rs 200 and Rs 2,000. "These products can be purchased at discounts of up to 75 percent," the organizers said.
The event, which continues till January 29, is being held at a time when shoe manufacturers say demand of Nepali footwear has gone up by 15 percent compared to a year ago.
"We hope promotional events like this one will make our products more familiar among customers, further raising their demand in the coming days," the statement said.
According to the LFGMAN, Nepali shoes and slippers now cater to over 50 percent of the domestic footwear demand.
Currently, more than 50 different brands of shoes and slippers are available in the market in different designs. Nepal produces 207 million pairs of footwear per year.
