KATHMANDU, Nov 5: Nepali Congress (NC) Joint General Secretary Ajay Babu Shiwakoti has said the party will not be shaken by the government’s fear tactics and warned it against trying to challenge the NC.
Shiwakoti made the remarks on Thursday after appearing before the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, which had summoned him. He said the party would strongly resist the government’s actions.
Shiwakoti, who was on a religious trip outside Kathmandu, had received a phone call from the Cyber Bureau asking him to appear. After returning to Kathmandu, he appeared before the bureau and accused the government of trying to run the country by intimidating its critics.

“I had written on social media that there was no need to send the police looking for me, as I would come on my own. Now I am here among you,” he said.
He accused the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah of creating illusions and trying to frighten those who refuse to be intimidated. Recalling the NC’s history of struggle against the Rana regime, the Panchayat system and direct royal rule, he said the government was deluded if it thought it could intimidate a party that had fought against such regimes.
“If Prime Minister Balen Shah and his team dare to do so, the government will face a response, and the prime minister himself will have to pay the price,” he warned.
Shivakoti also said the controversy surrounding Rs 180 million linked to Inam Sapkota, who is in police custody, had been staged politically to target the NC leadership.
He claimed that the issue was also connected to the removal of Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, alleging that the government was trying to mobilise the police leadership to serve its political interests.
Stating that the NC had continuously questioned the government’s activities, Shivakoti warned that if the government did not correct its approach, the consequences could prove fatal for the government itself.
