Nepal´s poor performance continues

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Nepal´s performance in wushu remained unsatisfactory in the fifth day of the ongoing Asian Martial Arts Games being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

South Asian Games gold medalist Raj Kumar Rasaili, Elina Chaudhary and Yubaraj Gurung lost their matches on Wednesday. However, Shamjhana Gurung is sure to win at least a bronze in the event contested by three countries.

Elina lost to weak adjudged Indian player 2-0 in 48 kg category. Likewise, Rajkumar, the strong contender for medal, also met the same fate after facing defeat at the hands of the Indian player 2-0 in 52 kg category. Had Rajkumar and Elina won the matches, Nepal would have bagged at least two more bronze medals.

In the other clash of the day, Yubaraj Gurung lost to Hong Kong´s player 2-0. In Nepal´s last participation in taekwondo, Ashish Maharjan lost 7-0 to Mohammad of Jordan.
