KATHMANDU, Feb 9: On February 13, Shiksha Nepal is organizing a fundraising event, along with Samunnat Karnali and Himalayan Climate Initiative, to celebrate love and to invite people to show solidarity for education and literacy at Bhrikuti Mandap in Exhibition Road.
Rasuwa declared as 43rd literate district
The funds raised from the event, 'Love Fest for Literacy', will enable children and adults of Mazfal VDC from Dolpa district to get access to better education.
Literacy activist and founder of Shiksha Nepal, Prem Bahadur Bohara says, "Our objective is to raise enough funds to ensure that at least one thousand people from Mazfal VDC are literate this year. We will be focusing on educating children in the morning while holding evening classes for the adults. In the Karnali region, it's quite common for children to reach the second and third grades without being literate. We hope to change that."The organizers are targeting a crowd of more than 10,000 people to visit the Bhrikuti Mandap ground on Saturday. Visitors will be entertained by musical performances by different singers as well as poem recitals by Madan Puraskar recipient Amar Neupane and journalist/poet Rabindra Mishra. There will be food stalls and game stalls where people can participate in a bingo game or have their face painted. Two lucky visitors will also be chosen as Mr and Miss Valentine through a lucky draw. The winners will be awarded a gift hamper each.
Actors Namrata Shrestha and Karma, who are Goodwill Ambassadors of Shiksha Nepal, will also be present at the event with other celebrities like Aryan Sigdel Malvika Subba, and Nagma Shrestha. Popular radio personality Sabeena Karki will also be at the event to keep everyone entertained with talks of love.
Starting from 11 AM, the 'Love Fest for Literacy' will continue till 5 PM. Entry ticket is priced at Rs 125
