KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Sharanamati Friends Club is set to organize the first edition of the Sharanamati Gold Cup from December 5 to12 in Sharanamati of Jhapa.
Organizing a press-meet in the capital on Sunday, the organizer informed that the tournament will be played at the football ground of Shree Janata Higher Secondary School, Sharanamanti, and will feature eight teams from Nepal and India.
According to the organizer, host Sharanamati Friends Club, Church Boys Club, Jhapa XI, Morang,Sunsari, Armed Police Force (APF), Kankai Sports Academy and Kanchanjunga FC of Siliguri, India will vie for the title worth Rs 101,111. Similarly the runner-up of the tournament will be given Rs 61,111.
The best players in each position including goalkeeper, defense, midfield and forward will also be awarded with Rs 5,000. Likewise, the best player of the tournament will get Rs 10,000, informed the organizer. The total budget of the tournament is Rs 2.14 million, according to the organizer Sharanamati Friends Club's President Tulsi Ram Pyakurel.
