Of seven petitions, two of them were filed by the Gen Z representatives, challenging the HoR dissolution and the government appointment.

The SC building was completely burned down during the Gen Z protests on September 9, disrupting all major services. Since then, the court had not accepted any new cases until now. The court has now resumed accepting writ petitions.

Following the Gen Z protest, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki assumed office as interim head of the government on September 12. Soon after taking charge, she recommended the dissolution of the HoR, which was later approved by President Ram Chandra Paudel.

Since then, some major political parties and individuals including the CPN-UML have been terming the HoR dissolution and incumbent caretaker government formation ‘unconstitutional’.
