Seven towers ready for construction of transmission line

TANAHUN, Oct 21: The construction work of the 140 MW transmission line of Tanahun Hydropower Project under construction in Tanahun has finally gained momentum. So far, seven towers have been completed for the construction of a transmission line under Package-3 of the project.

Out of the total 94, the work of 27 foundations has been completed and the work of six foundations is in progress. “All necessary materials for 20 towers are arriving in the field,” said Project Chief Achyut Ghimire. The construction of the transmission line has been given to the Indian company KEC.

Likewise, a total of 59 lots, 923 ropanis and five acres of land will be acquired for the construction of transmission line in the area within Byas Municipality-13 and 14, Bandipur Municipality-6, Aanboo Khaireni Municipality-6, Devghat Municipality-4 and 5. Land compensation is also being distributed for the construction. The compensation of total Rs. 13.134 million has been fixed.

Project Chief Ghimire said that the IEE has been reviewed and sent to the Department of Electricity Development for approval as the number of trees to be cut down for the construction of the transmission line has decreased.

The project is accelerating the work of all the three packages. The construction company has also started necessary preparations under Package-1. Eight Vietnamese technicians are operating at the site for the first package including changing the course of river and dam construction under Package-1.

The project had signed an agreement with Song Da Corporation, Vietnam-Kalika Construction Pvt. Ltd. and Nepal JV for the work. They are currently working on site construction and river crossing. The project has stated that detailed survey and design work is also currently underway.
