BANKE, Sept 9: Tragedy struck in Banke as a passenger bus collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the loss of seven lives. The devastating incident occurred on Friday night when the bus with registration number Na 7 Kha 2321, en route from Dang to Bardiya, collided with a parked truck near Raptisonari Rural Municipality-8, Shamshergunj.
The victims of this accident have been identified as Jug Bahadur Chand Shahi, Kasturi Thapa, Kashiram Tharu, Rupa Pariyar, Jayant Tharu, and the driver of the bus, known as Govinda. Additionally, another individual lost his life, although his identity has not been disclosed, reported Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sundar Tiwari from the Kohalpur Area Police Office.

According to DSP Tiwari, the unfortunate incident unfolded when a truck with the license plate Na 8 Kha 6405, traveling from east to west, suffered a mechanical failure and came to a halt on the road. The catastrophic collision transpired when the bus returning from a tour slammed into the stationary truck.
Four individuals who sustained injuries in the accident are currently receiving medical care at a nursing home in Nepalgunj. Two of them have already been discharged after receiving treatment, and the police have reported that the condition of the remaining nine individuals is stable.
