KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Continuous rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across the country, leading to the complete obstruction of seven major highways and partial operation of thirteen others.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the affected highways include the Koshi Highway in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha and the Pasang Lhamu Highway located in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa. The bridge connecting Nepal and China in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa has also been affected by the natural calamities.

Similarly, the Araniko Highway in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok has been fully blocked. In addition, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi, the Ridi-Tamghas road section in Ruru Rural Municipality of Gulmi, and the Jajarkot-Dolpa Bheri Corridor road section in Aathbiskot Municipality of Rukum West have also been rendered completely inoperable due to the weather-induced disasters.
Meanwhile, several roads have been operating for one-way traffic. These include the road from Tokha in Kathmandu to Nuwakot, the Mid-Hill Highway in Tehrathum, the East-West Highway in Mahottari, the Galchi-Trishuli road in Rasuwa, the Kaligandaki Corridor and Mid-Hill Highway in Baglung, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East, the Beni-Jomsom road in Mustang, and the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun.
Additionally, the Sandhikharka-Gorusinge road in Arghakhanchi, the Rapti Highway in Dang, the Sahid Highway in Rolpa, and the Dailekh-Surkhet road section in Dailekh are also operating one-way, as stated by the Nepal Police Headquarters.
