Security beefed up for polls

LAHAN, Oct 7: Security has been beefed up in Siraha district in view of the upcoming Constituent Assembly election on November 19, the District Administration Office, Siraha stated.



Chief District Officer Anil Kumar Thakur said that special vigilance has been adopted in the areas bordering with India for maintaining security in the run up to the election. He added that special security measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents from taking place before, during and after the election. [break]



The security measures include providing security to the election candidates as per the recommendation of the District Security Committee. Two hundred and forty-five people, including 42 independent candidates are standing in the election from all the six electoral constituencies of the district.



A meeting of the District Security Committee on Sunday took the decision to tighten security in the district in view of the fast approaching election.
