KATHMANDU, May 3: The second Nepal Ice AAN Futsal Tournament is taking place here from Monday. The event going to be organized by Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN) will be participated by 32 teams including Nepal’s corporate organisations, media houses and advertisement agencies.
The Tournament to be held in Sanepa-based Field Futsal will see the participation of 32 teams divided into eight groups. Hitch Hiker Travels, Sagarmatha TV, Sarbottam Cement, Nepal Television, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Baraha Jewelers, Gorkhapatra Daily, Muktinath Development Bank, Kantipur Media Group, and Media Hub are among those competing for the title.
The winner of the tournament to conclude on May 11 will go home with a cash prize of Rs 100 thousand while the first runner-up will bag Rs 75,000 and the team coming out the third will get Rs 50,000, according to AAN chair Rabindra Kumar Rijal.
Sotokan karate team leaves for India A four-member Nepal team including two players left here today for Chennai, India, to participate in the South Asian World Sotokan Karate Federation Championship. The championship is organized by World Sotokan Karate Do Federation, India.
The championship is taking place on May 4 and 5. Sudip Pandey is competing in the male 65 Kg weight group and Phanindra Prasad Jangam is vying in the 70 Kg weight group in the championship. President of Ne[al Sotokan Karate Association, Hem Kumar Shrestha and Madhu Piudel are also accompanying the players. Poudel is the team manager. National Sports Council (NSC) member-secretary Keshab Kumar Bista saw off the Nepali team amidst a programme on Thursday, wishing it all success.
