Nepal Film and Culture Academy in collaboration with Film Development Board Nepal began a screenwriting workshop on Wednesday in Chitlang.
The seven-day workshop is mentored by Jeff Monahan and Robin Bhatt. Monahon is an American screenwriter and a film professor in New York Academy. Likewise, Bhatt is credited as the screenwriter for Bollywood movies such as ‘Baazigar’, ‘Omkar’, ‘Krish’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Athithi Tum KabJaaoge’ and ‘Chennai Express’. He’s also the president of Screenwriters Association of India.
Screenwriting workshop in Makwanpur
Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Province 3, Salikram Jamarkattel inaugurated the workshop. In the workshop, Bhatt and Monahon are teaching screenwriting techniques and grammars.
About the workshop, chairperson of Film Development Board, Keshab Bhattarai also one of the participants of the workshop, shared, “I believe that the workshop will boost the confidence of Nepali screenwriters. And script is the backbone of a film that determines whether the film is good or bad."
After the workshop, every participant will be writing a short film script. The best one will be awarded with the cash prize worth a hundred thousand rupees.
