BIRGUNJ, April 28: Public schools in Birgunj remained closed for the 12th consecutive day on Tuesday following a strike by the Nepal Institutional Teachers´ Union. The union is protesting the manhandling of Ranjan Ale Magar, teacher of Gautam Secondary School, on April 17, and the teachers are demanding action against the culprit. The situation took a nasty turn on April 23 when the agitating teachers themselves manhandled a teacher, Ramesh Sharma, accusing him of not cooperating with the teachers´ agitation.
