KATHMANDU, June 20: The Supreme Court (SC) is scheduled to conduct final hearing on July 4 on the writ petitions related to  President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s decision to remove the constitutional difficulties.

The full bench comprising nine SC justices issued the order to this effect on Thursday while responding on the two writ petitions filed by advocate Bharat Mani Jangam seeking resignation of Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi from the post of chief justice (CJ).[break]

Jangam on May 28 had moved the apex court arguing that Regmi should resign as CJ to uphold independence of the judiciary. He has maintained that Regmi´s resignation as CJ is a must to maintain constitutional supremacy and the principle of separation of powers.
