KATHMANDU, May 21: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Pashupati Area Development Fund (PADF) not to implement the new regulations till May 25. It said that it would decide whether to continue the interim order or not, after holding discussions with the plaintiffs and the defendants on May 25.

The controversy over the new regulations that became effective from early this week reached the apex court on Wednesday after Bhandaris, the traditional caretakers of the Pashupatinath Temple, protested the regulations. The regulations faced protests from the Bhandaris since it sets age requirements and remuneration details, something the traditional caretakers of the temple do not like. Their protest has affected regular worship in the temple.

Justice Mohan Prakash Sitoula issued the interim order after an initial hearing on the public interest litigation filed by Bharat Jangam, a resident of Baneshwar.
