KATHMANDU, Jan 20: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued a show cause notice against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Kathmandu District Court and Lalitpur District Court about their move to halt the transfer of ownership of the land owned by Shiwani Air in Chitwan district.

A single bench of Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Sah ordered the CIAA, Kathmandu District Court and Lalitpur District Court to reply to the court on why they barred Siddhartha Bank from transfering the ownership of the lands belonging to the airline company to the bank´s name.[break]

A meeting of the board of directors of Siddhartha Bank held on May 11, 2011 had decided to transfer the ownership of two pieces of lands owned by Shiwani Air after the airline defaulted on a loan worth Rs 12.3 million.

The bank had moved the District Land Revenue Office, Chitwan on June 15, 2011 in a bid to transfer the ownership of the land to its name after becoming unable to sell the land through auction. However, the District Land Revenue Office, Chitwan stated that it cannot transfer the ownership of the lands to the bank citing the CIAA, Kathmandu District Court and Lalitpur District Court order.
