SC seeks release of Biplav-led CPN leaders Thapa, Budha

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a verdict, ordering the release of Lokendra Raj Thapa and Keshab Bahadur Budha of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal from the detention.

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a verdict, ordering the release of Lokendra Raj Thapa and Keshab Bahadur Budha of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal from the detention.


A division bench comprising judges Meera Khadka and Prakashman Singh Raut Monday directed the body concerned to free the pair associated with a trade union close to the party.

There lacked appropriate and sufficient reasons to keep them in the detention which is illegal as well, the court verdict stated, seeking their release. 


The Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku had arrested them on the charge of misconducts. But the SC did not find the sufficient reasons to prove the charge. The pair was arrested on January 3.
