SC issues show cause order for keeping Bechan Jha in detention

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order for keeping Bechan Jha, the defendant in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, in detention.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show cause order for keeping Bechan Jha, the defendant in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, in detention.


On Thursday, Justice Nityananda Pandey's single bench issued an order to the government to present the reasons for sending him to custody.

Jha filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court on December 17, 2024, claiming that authorities had detained him unlawfully.
