KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The Supreme Court on Wednesday had directed the government not to distribute identity cards to the armed conflict survivors, stating that some phrases used in the card are against the spirit of the 'Interim Constitution of Nepal-2007' and 'Comprehensive Peace Accord'.The SC ordered the government to come up with a new guideline regarding the identity card to conflict survivors scrapping the existing one.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and justice Om Prakash Mishra Wednesday handed down a verdict to this effect.

Earlier, a writ petition was filed at the apex court against the issuance of cards without revising some phrases. RSS
