KATHMANDU, June 16: CMG Club Sankata and Nepal Police Club made winning start to the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament at ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Wednesday.

Sankata recorded 3-2 win over Ruslan Three Star Club, while the departmental team Police defeated Saraswati Youth Club 5-3.


In the first match, Sankata took an early lead through Dipendra KC's goal in the 18th minute. However, Three Star's Aruj Singh leveled the score in the 27th minute.



Nevertheless, Sankata again took lead against Three Star in the 37th minute when Sanjok Rai's powerful shot directly went into the post.



However, Three Star once against leveled the score after the interval as Aditya Shakya netted in the 78th minute.



Despite all the efforts of Three Star to remain in the game, Sankata was strong enough to steal all three points from the match as Suman Dangol scored the winner in the 88th minute. 



The match winning goal for Sankata came through penalty as Three Star's Kamal Thapa handled the ball inside the box.



Similarly, in the second match, Kshitiz Raj GT gave Police the lead in the 10th minute, while Alan Thapa scored back-to-back goals in the 19th and 26th minutes to make it 3-0.



However, Saraswati made the battle interesting as Om Prakash Singh scored two goals in the 41st and 49th minutes.



But Police's Alan completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute to make it 4-2, while Mingmar Sherpa scored for Saraswati in the 64th to cut the deficit.

Nevertheless, Sugam Karki made it 5-3 in favor of the departmental side.
