Talking to journalists at a press conference here today, he said the UML central committee meeting held on February 15 and 16 had concluded that making the same person the head of the Executive and the Judiciary would be against the theory of separation of power.
During the programme, General Secretary Pokhrel said the political parties should forge consensus for the political leadership on the option that was acceptable to all and give political outlet to the nation.
All political parties want the exit of the current government as it has lost political, constitutional, and moral bases to stay in power, he added.
General Secretary Pokhrel said the UML was for the Nepali Congress-led election government as the political parties desired the same, adding that senior leaders of the major political parties have been trapped in the Unified CPN (Maoist).
