Pramod covered the distance in 2.31.94 minutes to break the 22-year-old national record. Earlier, Wangden Lama had the record with 2.37.38 minutes.
Wangden had set the record in 1987 during Second South Asian Games held at Kolkata. Sailesh was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 for setting the national record by Nepal Swimming Association.
In 100m breaststroke, too, Sailesh clinched the gold finishing the event in 14.72 seconds. Sailesh won the highest seven gold medals in the tournament. Babinsensa Shrestha bagged the silver and Bishnu Bahadur Kumal finished with bronze.
In men´s 50m backstroke, Pushparaj Shahi clocked 32.99 seconds for a gold while Kisimlal Tharu bagged the silver and Sailesh satisfied with the bronze.
In 50m freestyle, Prassidha Jang Rana (27.28 sec), Sailesh and Milan Thapa garnered the top three positions, respectively.
In women´s open 200m breaststroke, Sudha Shrestha (3.43.89 minutes), Siladevi Gurung and Jenisa Malla secured the top three spots.
In women´s 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly, Karishma Karki, Saila Rana and Shreya Dhital bagged the top three spots in each event. With the three gold on Thursday, Karishma added five gold medals in her kitty.
In age group, Little Angles school emerged champion with 107 points while Baba Boarding School stood second with 76 points and Kathmandu Valley finished third with 30 points.
Siladevi of Kathmandu Valley won gold in women´s U-12 50m backstroke, Janisa Malla of Little Angles in U-15 50m breaststroke and Surangana Bamjan of Little Angles took a gold in U-17 50m breaststroke.
Sisir Gurung of Subhatara won a gold in men´s U-12 50m butterfly, Prawesh Adhikari of Baba in U-14 50m breaststroke, Milan Thapa of Little Angles in U-17 50 m freestyle, Prawesh of Baba in U-17 50m backstroke and Babinsensa of Baba won gold in U-17 100m breaststroke.
In men´s 4X50m relay, Baba, Little Angles and Ideal stood in the top three spots respectively.
Karishma honored
Meanwhile, Karishma Karki, the highest 12 gold medal winner of the Fifth National Games was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 by the Nepal Swimming Association.
Karishma had won gold medals in all 12 swimming events she participated in. Earlier, Nayana Shakya had the record of winning nine gold medals during the Fourth National Games in Nepalgunj.
