KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Nepali rupee lost 94 paisa against US dollar this week as the Indian currency, with which rupee is pegged, lost value against the greenback. Gold price, on the other hand, came down by Rs 940 per 10 grams over the week.CURRENCY
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory bank, had opened currency trading on Sunday with value of US dollar fixed at Rs 104.72.
Rupee gained 20 paisa against US dollar on Monday to settle at 104.52. However, rupee lost 71 paisa on Tuesday to close at 105.23 against the greenback. On Wednesday, the local currency gained 6 paisa against US dollar to settle at 105.17. Rupee lost 3 paisa on Thursday to 105.20 against US dollar. Rupee lost another 26 paisa against the greenback on Friday to close the week's trading at 105.46.
Meanwhile, rupee gained 60 paisa against euro but lost Rs 1.74 against Pound Sterling over the week. A euro was exchanged at Rs 114.63 on Friday, while the Pound Sterling was valued Rs 162.28.
BULLION
Gold price came down by Rs 940 per 10 grams this week. Trading opened on Sunday with price of gold fixed at Rs 43,295 per 10 grams.
Though the price of gold remained unchanged on Monday, it came down by Rs 130 per 10 grams to close at Rs 43,165 on Tuesday. Price of the yellow metal went down by another Rs 295 per 10 grams to Rs 42,870 on Wednesday. Gold became cheaper by Rs 430 per 10 grams to Rs 42,440 a day later. Price fell by another Rs 85 per 10 grams on Friday to close the week's trading at Rs 42,355.
Meanwhile, price of silver came down by Rs 8.5 per 10 grams over the week. On Friday, silver was traded at Rs 604.5 per 10 grams.
