Nepali rupee gained 74 paisa against US dollar over the week. [break]
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority, opened currency trading on Sunday with exchange rate of US dollar fixed at Rs 99.89. Rupee weakened by 41 paisa to close at 100.30. It, however, gained 20 paisa and settled at Rs 100.50 on Tuesday.
The local currency shed 51 paisa to close at 99.99 on Wednesday. Rupee, however, bounced back gaining 25 paisa to settle at 100.24 on Thursday. On Friday - the last trading day of the week, rupee weakened by a whopping Rs 1.9 to close at 99.15.
Meanwhile, rupee gain 10 paisa against Euro and 42 paisa against Pound Sterling over the week. On Friday Euro was valued Rs 134.99, while Pound Sterling was exchanged at Rs 160.95.
BULLION
Gold price came down by Rs 430 per 10 gram this week. Bullion trading opened on Sunday with gold priced at Rs 47,585 per 10 grams. Though the yellow metal remained stable on Monday, it slumped by Rs 430 per 10 grams to Rs 47,155 on Tuesday. Gold continued in losing spree on Wednesday, losing Rs 860 per 10 grams to settle at Rs 46,295.
It, however, gained Rs 90 per 10 grams to close at Rs 46,385. On Friday, the last trading day of the week, gold price increased by Rs 770 per 10 gram to Rs 47,155.
Silver price came down by Rs 16 per 10 grams this week. On Friday, silver was traded at Rs 780 per 10 grams.
