KATHMANDU, May 1: Ruling political parties have urged the government to introduce policies and programs that strengthen the democratic republic, revive the economy, and instill hope among the youth.



At a meeting held on Wednesday at Baluwatar, the Prime Minister’s official residence, party leaders emphasized the need for effective, timely, and well-prioritized development efforts to avoid waste of public resources, according to CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.


He said the parties called on the government to promote entrepreneurship, skill development, startups, enterprise growth, and market expansion to inspire the youth and create economic opportunities.

The leaders also advised the government to eliminate unnecessary structures, reduce wasteful expenditures, enhance good governance and work efficiency, and strengthen foreign relations.


President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to present the government’s new policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year in a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Friday, May 2. Wednesday’s meeting was convened by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to prepare for the announcement.


The ruling coalition also urged the government to stand united in defending the federal democratic system against recent criticisms and recommended launching agricultural and livestock development programs focused on hill regions to address internal migration trends.


In response to media queries, Gyawali said negotiations between the government and protesting teachers are ongoing and expressed confidence that community schools will reopen soon.


Attendees at the meeting included Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, UML Senior Vice Chair Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretaries Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Chair Mahantha Thakur, and Janata Samajbadi Party Chair Ashok Kumar Rai.
