MAKWANPUR, May 18: Ruling alliance has emerged victorious at Thaha Municipality in northern Makawanpur. According to the vote count results published this morning, CPN (Maoist Center)'s candidate Bishnu Bista and Nepali Congress candidate Bharat Gopali, on behalf of the ruling alliance, registered their victory as mayor and deputy mayor, respectively, of Thaha Municipality.
Bista secured 9,719 out of a total 23,056 votes while his closest contender Achyutram Dhakal of CPN-UML got 7,761 votes.
Likewise, NC candidate Gopali obtained 8,607 votes to clinch his victory to the post of deputy mayor. His rival Kalpana Balami from CPN-UML received 8,522 votes.
The CPN (Maoist Center) has won six wards out of 12 in Thaha municipality while NC and UML registered their win in three wards each.
